The Veterinary Referral Center of Northern Virginia has a Vet-MR System by Universal Medical, Inc. This Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit is specifically designed and calibrated for imaging companion animals.  MRI is a noninvasive method that produces highly detailed internal images of your dog’s or cat’s body.

Since it is noninvasive and safe, MRI is an excellent diagnostic tool that can lead to early detection and treatment of many health issues by imaging soft tissue and providing information about your pet’s brain, spinal cord, sinus cavities, nose, ears, as well as joints and internal organs. The images are taken while your pet is anesthetized to ensure the best image quality with no movement.
